Sustaining Competitive Advantage:  Western Washington Summit 2004
September 20, 2004
West Sound Technology Professionals Association

Honorary Chairman, Congressman Jay Inslee, will address professionals and leaders from government, education, business, technology, and economic development sectors in a seven-county region at West Sound Technology Professional Association's (WSTPA) 3rd annual "Western Washington Summit on Technology and Economic Development Entrepreneurship." The event, to be held October 21, 2004 from 4:00-8:30PM at Kitsap Conference Center in Bremerton, WA has a world-class agenda which will provide cutting-edge knowledge on how to increase productivity by incorporating best practices and proven management techniques into your technology and business vision.  A technology showcase with exhibitors will be followed by a buffet and presentations, with a no-host bar available throughout the entire event.

Presenters include:

R. Lee Cheatham, Executive Director, Washington Technology Center, whose topic is "Seizing Tomorrow's Opportunities: An Industry Forecast". The presentation is based upon the center's Index of Innovation, which identified the Kitsap region as having the highest growth rate in technology jobs in the state.

Robert McDowell, Vice President of Business Critical Solutions for Microsoft Corporation, will bring clarity and closure to questions about the crucial success factors for realizing business valve from technology in his presentation "The Information Technology Payoff: Positioning for the Rebound”.

A keynote panel will answer questions regarding the perceived direction global outsourcing is likely to take in Washington State, the implications these trends have for companies and workers in the state, and the steps/actions needed to ensure companies and workers in Washington State remain competitive in the global market. Entitled "Global Outsourcing: The Irreversible Megatrend?”, the panelists include Dr. Madhu Rao, Principal Investigator - Albers School of Business and Economics, Seattle University; Joy Howland, Development Director of RATEC and Board of Directors, Society for Information Management (Seattle Chapter); and Ardell "Bud" Albers, Vice President and CTO, Drugstore.com.

Registration is required, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Online registration ends October 14.
