Introducing the Team Members of the Culminis Taskforce on Building Security Awareness

Culminis has formed the Culminis Taskforce on Building Security Awareness to:

  1. Develop recommendations for IT Pro User Groups and IT Solution Providers on how to build security awareness in the IT Pro Community
  2. Conduct monthly meetings to discuss and help resolve issues around building security awareness
  3. Assist with security awareness efforts of Culminis Member Organizations and Sponsors

Culminis is pleased to announce the founding members of the Culminis Taskforce on Building Security Awareness (CTF-BSA):

Dr. Brad Dinerman is the founder and Chair of the New England Information Security Group (NEISG), the former Chair of the Boston Area Exchange Server User Group and a co-founder of Boston User Groups, Inc.  As a Microsoft MVP in Windows Server Systems and Security, he is one of only seventy-five individuals worldwide who have this title.  Brad also possesses an MCSE and MCP+I in Windows NT4 and 2000, is a Certified SonicWall Security Administrator. He earned a Ph.D. in physics from Boston College.  Brad combines a rare blend of security, high-end systems architecture and application development skills and has a unique sense of humor. In addition to these traits, he adds a strong scientific background that he often draws upon to analyze and troubleshoot complex IT problems.  He has taught classes in Active Server Pages, JavaScript, HTML and the Theory of Relativity.  Brad is a frequent contributor to various online TechTips sites and gives user group/conference presentations on topics ranging from spam and security solutions to Internet development techniques. He was also a frequent contributor to international physics journals in his earlier, scientific career.

Steven Lai is the President of the NT Engineering Association of Silicon Valley (NTea) and is both a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and Microsoft MVP in Small Business Server.   Steven has over twenty years experience in computer networking within large corporations and is focused on start-ups on Local Area Networks, Internet protocols, high available Web-based systems, and computer system security.  Steven led and trained software quality assurance teams of three to seven engineers at Intel, VisiCorp, Novell and WebMD; established software quality assurance practices; and started the software test function at two startups.  He released four shrink-wrapped software products and a popular Web health page.  Steven also has five years of experience as part of the technical staff of the RISOS Project (Research in Secured Operating Systems) at LLNL, which conducted system evaluations of Department of Defense and Department of Energy computer systems and developed methods and techniques to test secured operating systems.

Christa Anderson is an internationally-known authority on server-based computing and Senior Technologist for triCerat, Inc, contributing both to customer education and to product development. A senior contributing editor for Windows IT Pro Magazine, she speaks regularly at events such as Comdex, iForum, and CeBIT. Her books include Windows Terminal Services, The Definitive Guide to MetaFrame XP, and co-authorship of Mastering Windows 2003 Server.

Steve Delahunty is the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Network Professional Association (NPA), and he is currently the Director of Information Technology for the Universal Service Administrative Company and a member of the adjunct faculty of George Washington University, where he teaches in the Computer Science department.  He has written for CMP Media and Prentice Hall, and is an invited member of the Network Computing Magazine editorial advisory board.  He also contributes to the Gartner Business Panel, Worldwide Executive CIO Council and the CIO Best Practice Exchange, as well as the USA TODAY Tech Panel.   In addition to his Masters of Business Administration in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix, Steve is holds a Certificate in Enterprise Architecture Implementation and is a Certified Information Security Manager.  He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Certified Novell Administrator (CNA).

Adam Field is the President of the UK Exchange Server Professionals Group, and a Technologist for Content Master.  He is currently working with Microsoft Solutions for Security, developing a series of guidance on security topics around Windows Server 2003 SP1.  Adam has also written guidance for Microsoft Consulting on migrating Exchange 5.5 -> 2003 which included security guidance, and has implemented BS:7799 (ISO:17799) compliant security policies and procedures in enterprise organizations.

Lani Fraizer is the Manager of Instructional Technology at California State University Maritime (CSUM).  In collaboration with the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and California State University Sacramento (CSUS), Lani directed the development of various initiatives in information security training for IT professionals for the Sacramento region and beyond.  She is currently the Assistant Director for Education for the Sacramento Chapter of ISSA and a Board Member for the California Information Technology Managers association.  Lani earned graduate degrees in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and Educational Technology from California State University Hayward.  She is currently working in collaboration with several colleges and universities to promote enterprise security and security management training for IT professionals via distance learning.

Dr. Brad Dinerman will be the Project Lead for the Culminis Taskforce, and Steve Lai will be the Assistant Project Lead.  Everyone on the team brings a unique perspective on security and the IT PRO community.  Culminis would like to thank each and every one of them for joining such a worthwhile endeavor, helping to build security awareness within the IT PRO User Group community.  If you are interested in joining the Culminis Task Force on Building Security Awareness, please email Ron Gandiza, Director of Development, for consideration.
