The Culminis Compass - August  2004

Culminis Implements the Microsoft® Solutions Framework (MSF)

Within five months, Culminis has experienced tremendous growth in terms of its members and its staff.  It has also seen its list of projects with Member Organizations and Sponsors jump exponentially.  In an effort to deliver its growing list of projects on-time and on-budget, while also meeting the requirements of its customers, Culminis has implemented the Microsoft® Solutions Framework (MSF) methodology as part of its overall rapid project management methodology.  The MSF is a deliberate and disciplined approach to managing technology projects based on a defined set of principles, models, disciplines, concepts, guidelines, and proven practices from Microsoft.  The MSF provides guidance for rapidly and successfully delivering information technology solutions with fewer people and less risk, while ensuring the highest quality results.

As part of the project management initiative, Culminis has teamed up with aimware, a Microsoft Certified Partner and new Culminis Affiliate, to deploy their unique project management system, known as BrightWork MSF, which will be used to manage all Culminis projects both internally and externally.

BrightWork MSF is a web-based collaboration project management solution integrated with Microsoft SharePoint Portal, which provides a dedicated implementation environment for teams using the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF). BrightWork MSF helps teams implement MSF more easily in their organization enabling them to more effectively address the most common causes of technology project failure - improving success rates, solution quality, and business impacts.  All Culminis projects, whether technology or business focused, will be managed by the BrightWork MSF system.  The system will also be integrated with Culminis Connections to coordinate projects (i.e. events, programs and joint-initiatives) with Culminis Member Organizations and Sponsors.
