Culminis is currently
assembling a team of experts in IT security to
work with IT Pro User Groups in building
awareness of security issues and concerns.
Several recent industry surveys, as well as
feedback from Culminis Alliance members, have
identified security as the top issue currently
in the minds of IT professionals. However,
it is also widely suspected that many
IT professionals do not implement basic security
practices. Part of the problem is the outdated
concept that implementing security is only done
by security “specialists.” In today’s
streamlined IT organizations, the planning,
designing, implementing and managing of security
policies and procedures is the responsibility of
all IT personnel regardless of their specific IT
career field.
The Culminis Task Force
will help find and/or develop technical
presentations on security for IT Pro User Groups
and their members, as well as answer any
questions posted to the Culminis Connections
forum related to security. The team will be
made up of security experts from Culminis
Alliance member organizations and Culminis
Sponsors such as Microsoft.
Culminis is pleased to
announce that two top security experts in the IT
Pro community have recently accepted an
invitation to be part of the Culminis Task Force
on Building Security Awareness:
·
Dr. Brad Dinerman -
Brad is the founder and Chair of the New England
Information Security Group, the former Chair of
the Boston Area Exchange Server User Group and a
co-founder of Boston User Groups, Inc. As a
Microsoft MVP in Windows Server Systems and
Security, he is one of only seventy-five
individuals worldwide who have this title. Brad also
possesses an MCSE and MCP+I in Windows NT4 and
2000, is a Certified SonicWall Security
Administrator. He earned a Ph.D. in physics from
Boston College. Brad combines a rare blend
of security, high-end systems architecture and
application development skills and has a unique
sense of humor. In addition to these traits, he adds a
strong scientific background that he often draws upon
to analyze and troubleshoot complex IT
problems. |
He has taught classes in Active Server Pages,
JavaScript, HTML and the Theory of Relativity.
Brad is a frequent contributor to various online
TechTips sites and gives user group/conference
presentations on topics ranging from spam and
security solutions to Internet development
techniques. He was also a frequent contributor
to international physics journals in his
earlier, scientific career.
Steven Lai
- Steven is the President of the
NT Engineering Association of Silicon Valley (NTea),
and is both a Certified Information System
Security Professional (CISSP) and Microsoft MVP
in Small Business Server. Steven has over
twenty years experience in computer networking
within large corporations and is focused on
start-ups on
Local Area Networks, Internet protocols, high
available Web-based systems, and computer system
security. Steven led and trained software
quality assurance teams of three to seven
engineers at Intel, VisiCorp, Novell and WebMD;
established software quality assurance
practices; and started the software test
function at two startups. He released four
shrink-wrapped software products and a popular
Web health page. Steven also has five years of
experience as part of the technical staff of the RISOS Project (Research in Secured Operating
Systems) at LLNL, which conducted system
evaluations of Department of Defense and
Department of Energy computer systems and developed
methods and techniques to test secured operating
systems.
