AITP Dallas to Enlist in Tactical Tank Team Building

Save the Date - September 15

Mark Your Calendar Now – AITP Leadership & Team Building Workshop And Bring your Troops!

Picture yourself in command of a real life, military tank…maneuvering through 265 acres of rugged Texas Land. Now picture you and your team members at a leadership management retreat in a tank, on a battlefield, and in battlefield dress! That’s the real life experience board members, Deborah Lovell, John Dyer, Dan Herod, Ray Gilliam, Marty Boggan and Chapter assistant, Skip Lovell, enlisted in on Thursday, July 8th at Tactical Tanks, LLC.

In 2004, AITP Dallas began offering a professional development program series to prepare its member and guest attendees for the Battle of Career Retention in the new age of IT and customer service. While we may be armed with the right tactical technology hard skills, many of us know as we search the battlefield in today’s job market that our leadership and management skills may be a bit behind the frontline, and in order to sustain our existing posts, secure new posts, and/or receive promotions, we must hone up on our personal management skills.

Deborah Lovell, President of AITP Dallas and its Programs Chair, always in search for fun, exciting “out of the box” learning workshops, recruited her army for a day at Tactical Tanks, a unique approach for leadership training. “When I saw the article, Mission: company teamwork, written by Cheryl Hall in the Dallas Morning News back in March, I was so intrigued, I knew that I had to learn more about this program and consider it for one of our upcoming professional development series programs”, said Deborah. By the end of the day, the AITP troop unanimously agreed. They had learned new team skills as well as survived the Texas heat and land mines field!

David Estes and Dr. Deborah Estes run a corporate training camp outside of Sherman, TX that uses a fleet of tanks and other military equipment to teach team-building skills. Tactical Tanks is an exciting alternative to the same old leadership classes and team building programs. “You get in a battle tank and sail out across the Texas countryside with a set of orders and a mission”, David Estes, CEO of Tactical Tanks, explained to the group. An example of some of the exercises your team must perform include navigating the tanks through minefields without instruction, rescuing a downed pilot in enemy war zones, and convoying in a V formation, all of which takes team communications within each tank crew and as a entire platoon (group). What an awesome concept for leadership training!

Tactical Tanks is the guest speaker for the AITP Dallas September program being held at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dallas. In addition to leadership management expert Dr. Deborah Estes bringing her workshop to our attendees, David Estes, Commander of Tactical Tanks, will be bringing his tank – yes, a real tank!
